With a population of approx 900 000, Maceió is a sophisticated and well developed city, yet it has not lost its charm and simplicity. Already available is a great infrastructure and tourist services such as hospitals, restaurants, bars and shopping centers. Maceió is famous for having one the most beautiful urban beaches in the country and the city is also well known for the excellent diversity and quality in gastronomy.
Maceió has long been a favorite tourist destinations for the domestic market in Brazil and is currently the 7th most popular tourist destination in Brazil. Lately the local government has been very active in promoting the area and Maceió is already the 4th most promoted destination in Brazilian travel agencies. Outside of Brazil Maceió has been virtually unknown as the hotel offer has been lacking and the city has been difficult to access from abroad. Lately this has changed as the new stunning international airport opened in 2005 and quality hotels such as Radisson are being built in the city.

How to get to Maceió Brazil
The international airport in Maceió, Zumbi Dos Palmares, receives several domestic flights from many Brazilian cities. Maceió also receives international flights from Argentina and Italy. It is expected that the number of international flights to Maceió will increase fast along with an increasing international interest in this beautiful part of northeast Brazil. The International Airport in Maceió is approx. 25km from the city center.
