Natal Brazil tourism growing fastest in northeast Brazil

CVC, the biggest tour operator in Brazil has recently released numbers indicating that tourism in Natal Brazil is growing faster than other areas in the northeast of Brazil. In the month of January of 2010, CVC brought 36 % more domestic tourists to Natal compared to the same month in 2009. During the same time period, CVC brought 29% more tourists to Fortaleza compared to last year for the same time period.
Besides showing the fastest growth, Natal was also the destination with the highest number of tourists, being second only to Porto Seguro in the state of Bahía. Natal has won ground against other popular domestic tourist locations such as Porto de Galinhas (Pernambuco) and Costa do Sauípe (Bahía).
The authorities in Natal have been very active in attracting more flights and tourism and the recent numbers seem to be partly results of the active work done by the local government in Natal.
Lately also a number of foreign tour operators have started direct flights to Natal Brazil, and it seems the effects of the financial crisis are slowly becoming history with more and more international tourists arriving in Natal.
